Metal Detecting Jomtien Beach 19 August 2010
Published: September 13, 2010
After an uneventful Thai Air flight to Bangkok, and a 1 1/2 ride to Jomtien, I was ready to hit the beach. It is so nice when your flight is on time and upon arrival in Bangkok, your driver calls while you are still on the plane waiting to get off and go to the luggage carousel. I have a very reliable driver – Kob – who I have used over the past 6-7 years. He has never been late and has even waited for hours at the airport when I arrived late. If you need a ride from Bangkok to Pattaya (or anywhere else) – Kob can take care of you – 089-5320899 – or firstname.lastname@example.org. And for you cigarette smokers, you can smoke in his big car.
Anyhow, I checked in at Maggie May’s Guesthouse on Soi Wat Boon – about a five minute walk to the beach. Big and clean room, TV, DVD player, fridge, A/C, free wireless and hot water – all for 500 Thai baht per night. Excellent Brit food for reasonable prices – Bangers & Mash or Fish & Chips recommended.
Immediately after checking in, I got my metal detecting gear ready and met up with my friend from Finland, Tony. He loves to hunt as much as I do and we headed out to the beach for a midday hunt.
It was a bit hot and we worked in the dry and wet sand – Tony with his White’s Coinmaster and me with my Minelab Excalibur II.
Finds were not spectacular but it sure was nice to get out and hunt – especially with a buddy.
First day started out well and looking forward to the rest of the holiday.
