Lanikai Beach

Burned another day of sick leave today and headed for the Windward side of Oahu at about 0545. Even though a work day, I thought traffic would be a little lighter as public schools are on spring break. Wrong. There was an accident on the road I take to get to the Freeway – so it was a snail’s pace. And, even after getting on the H-1, it was still very slow going.
Once I got to the H-3, it was smooth sailing and I got to Lanikai Beach at about 0715. The beach was basically empty for about the first hour I was there. There were only a few folks walking their dogs, jogging, etc. The beach-goers weren’t there until after 0900.
I hunted on the dry and wet sand – mostly on the dry. Lots of coins and bottle caps and a few other goodies. I did this for about 2 hours and then headed into the water as it was low tide. Looked in the water up to waist deep for about one hour with no results.
Here are the results of my 3-hour hunt – $2.66 in coins, 2 lighters, key, car, and lots and lots of bottle caps. Weather was beautiful – partly overcast making the hunt nice and cool.
