Kaiona Beach Park

Headed out the door at 0545 to Waimanalo Beach Park and went the long way around. I was in no hurry and the ride along the Windward coast was spectacular.
Only problem – Waimanalo Beach Park was loaded with tents that I am guessing were homeless folks so headed to another beach that I had passed earlier.
I never heard of Kaiona Beach Park – but it looked good. It is a small beach with a grassy area with picnic tables and the beach looked decent. There were some outrigger canoes on the shore, so I figured people come here to swim.
For about the first hour, I was the only person on the beach (except for one guy that walked by. Then a family came and set up their tarp for a day at the beach with their kids.
There were signals every few feet but unfortunately most were can slaw. Shredded beer cans hit by lawn mowers were everywhere along with pull tabs and the old fashioned round tabs with beaver tails.
I only found 23 cents – 1 dime, 1 nickel and the rest pennies.
If nothing else, I did my civic duty and cleaned up a lot of nasty trash – mostly Beer Can Bracelets.
